What Is RevOps? Roles, Skills and How to Get a RevOps Job (2026)

RevOps aligns sales, marketing and customer success around one revenue process. Learn what RevOps teams do, the main job titles, key skills, and where to find RevOps jobs.

RevOps (revenue operations) is the team that makes sales, marketing and customer success run as one revenue engine. It owns the processes, data and tools that every go-to-market team depends on.

It used to be a niche back-office job. Now it's one of the most in-demand roles in B2B. Here's what RevOps is, what the jobs look like, and how to break in.

What is RevOps?

Revenue operations brings sales ops, marketing ops and customer success ops under one team. The goal is a single, clean view of how revenue is created, from first touch to renewal.

Before RevOps, each team often had its own tools, data and definitions. Marketing counted leads one way and sales counted them another. RevOps fixes that by owning the shared system.

What does a RevOps team do?

Day to day, RevOps work usually covers

  • CRM management. Keeping HubSpot or Salesforce clean, structured and trusted.
  • Process design. Defining lead stages, handoffs and routing rules.
  • Reporting and forecasting. Building the dashboards leaders use to make decisions.
  • Tech stack. Choosing, connecting and maintaining GTM tools.
  • Compensation and territories. Setting up quotas, territories and commission plans.

In short, RevOps is the reason the rest of the go-to-market team can trust its numbers.

Why RevOps jobs are in demand

Companies want growth that doesn't depend on adding headcount, and that takes clean data and solid process. Flexa lists RevOps among the most in-demand sales-adjacent roles of 2026, noting it has moved from a niche specialty to a core strategic function.

AI is adding new demand too. Betts Recruiting has spotted new titles such as RevOps AI Integrator and GTM Automation Lead. It also notes that AI-fluent candidates are being pulled into these roles, which shrinks the talent pool for standard RevOps manager jobs.

Common RevOps job titles

TitleLevelWhat they focus on
Revenue Operations AnalystEntry to midReporting, data cleanup, CRM admin
RevOps ManagerMidProcess design, tooling, forecasting
Director of Revenue OperationsSeniorStrategy across sales, marketing and CS
VP of Revenue OperationsExecutiveOwns the revenue engine end to end

According to SyncGTM, these titles are now well defined, and RevOps roles lean remote-friendly compared with many other GTM jobs.

RevOps vs GTM engineering

The two roles overlap, but they're not the same. As Apollo puts it, RevOps designs the strategy and process, and the GTM engineer builds the systems that run it.

If you'd rather build automated workflows than design processes and reports, GTM engineering may suit you better. Our guide on what a GTM engineer does covers that path.

Skills you need for RevOps

  1. CRM expertise. Deep knowledge of Salesforce or HubSpot. A HubSpot or Salesforce admin certification helps.
  2. Data and analysis. Spreadsheets, SQL basics and building dashboards.
  3. Process thinking. Mapping how a lead moves through the funnel and where it gets stuck.
  4. Business sense. Understanding pipeline, conversion rates and revenue metrics.
  5. Communication. Getting sales, marketing and CS to agree on one way of working.
  6. Automation and AI. Increasingly expected, as the new titles above show.

How to get into RevOps

Most people move into RevOps from a nearby role. Common starting points include sales ops, marketing ops, CRM admin and sales development. Many SDRs who love data make the jump. If that's you, our guide to SDR jobs in 2026 explains how the role builds a foundation for RevOps.

To get started

  1. Become the CRM person on your team. Volunteer to fix reports and clean up data.
  2. Get certified. Free HubSpot Academy courses and Salesforce Trailhead are good places to start.
  3. Join the community. Pavilion and RevOps Co-op share jobs and advice.
  4. Show your impact in numbers. "Cut lead response time from 2 days to 2 hours" gets interviews.
