GTM Engineer - Marketing
Clay Labs New York, United States$150k–$220kPosted 7d ago
About the role
- Clay's mission is to be the engine companies use to grow to their full potential. Its platform combines B2B data, personalized campaigns across emails, ads and landing pages, productivity workflows, and agents that help companies grow.
- Clay helps thousands of customers, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Visa, go to market using unique data, signals, and AI research.
- In 2026, Clay raised a $115M Series D at a $7.1B valuation led by Wellington and reported being on track to cross $200M in revenue that quarter. It also launched a $1M scholarship fund for GTME education.
- Clay's community includes 17,000+ customers, 200+ integration partners, 125+ agencies, 50+ Clay clubs, and 30,000 Slack members.
- Team members bring backgrounds and interests including music, activism, writing, clowning, marathon running, skydiving, psychedelic therapy, and social work. Operating principles include negative maintenance and non-attached action.
- This role focuses on elevating top-of-funnel workflows by building automations that generate demand, qualify it faster, and identify accounts that are in-market.
- Work at the intersection of GTM Engineering and Marketing, partnering closely with Demand Gen, Lifecycle, and SDR teams to turn prospect and account data into proactive, measurable action.
- Operate with high agency while grounding your work in stakeholder needs and understanding how demand generation, lifecycle, campaign, and SDR teams operate.
- This is a full-time, on-site role in New York.
Responsibilities
- Build and own top-of-funnel workflow automations, including lead and account scoring, intent and buying-signal detection, inbound enrichment and routing, speed-to-lead triggers, and proactive outbound plays based on marketing signals.
- Partner with Demand Gen, Lifecycle Marketing, and SDR leadership to translate business needs into automation requirements and iterate based on feedback.
- Own instrumentation behind MQL definitions and the marketing funnel. Build insights into what converts, where leads stall, which sources and campaigns produce real pipeline, and whether qualification criteria remain effective.
- Connect Marketing and SDR workflows through lead lifecycle and handoff logic, routing and assignment rules, follow-up SLAs, and feedback on which leads were worth pursuing.
- Build tooling that surfaces account and prospect context for SDRs before first touch, during inbound follow-up, and ahead of campaign and event pushes.
- Extend Clay into new use cases, share innovative ideas with the product team, test new features internally, and act as a practitioner evangelist for Clay infrastructure and GTM Engineering.
- Partner deeply with GTM leaders and frontline teams to understand the current demand motion and where it breaks.
- Own projects end-to-end, from discovery and prototyping through rollout, adoption, and iteration. Identify opportunities to automate, augment, or redesign workflows using AI, data, and better systems design.
- Design systems that improve speed, visibility, data quality, and execution across the funnel. Connect systems through APIs, webhooks, integrations, and automation layers so information moves cleanly across the stack.
- Measure performance, adoption, and business impact of what you build and improve it over time.
- Act as an internal thought partner on the future of AI-native GTM systems.
Requirements
- At least 6–10 years working in a combination of Marketing Ops, RevOps, GTM Engineering, or a similar applied technical discipline.
- At least 3 years in Marketing Ops, Demand Gen Ops, GTM Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience building, developing, or connecting core systems such as Salesforce and adjacent GTM systems, including hands-on experience with marketing automation and inbound tools such as HubSpot, Marketo, Customer.io, or Braze, and intent or enrichment layers such as 6sense, Demandbase, Clearbit, or Common Room.
- Fluency in marketing funnel mechanics, including lead lifecycle design, scoring models, routing logic, attribution, deliverability, database health, and funnel conversion and velocity metrics.
- Proven ability to build and solve problems using Python, JavaScript, SQL, or TypeScript. Team members pull their own data.
- A track record of deploying and building AI-powered internal tools, automations, or agentic workflows.
- Experience using data warehouses, BI tools, or event-driven systems.
- Executive presence and the ability to communicate technical topics concisely and confidently to nontechnical audiences while conveying business requirements to technical audiences.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fluid hypergrowth environments and drive change.
- Experience building in Clay as a primary workflow or enrichment layer is highly preferred but not required. Candidates without Clay experience should demonstrate increasing proficiency throughout the interview process.
- Experience in analytics engineering, data science, or programming languages is a bonus.
Benefits
- All employees can work with world-class coaches specializing in creativity, management, and other areas.
